"Yiragir" (Great White Whale) ~ Track created for the One SONG

A Sacred offering Luis Walker of the Widjimbul People.
Luis played the didgeridoo, voice, boomerang and clap sticks on this song.

"Yiragir" (Great White Whale)
A Song offering from Luis Walker, Aboriginal Elder of the Widjimbul people from the Byron Bay, Australia region.

Luis Walker offers a special gift to this years project with offering of Sacred chant, spoken words, didgeridoo, clapping sticks in this powerful Yiragir song. Also in the Yiragir track is Flute is played by Elvina Munir.

The Song from Luis Walker representing the indigenous lineage and understanding of the relationship between the water, the whales, the earth and humanity. He reminds us that all Earths creatures are our Brothers and Sisters.

Luis’s people still live very, very close to the land. Their relationship with Mother Earth is very real and deep. This song for him is quite literally a tender sharing between him and his grandmother, the great Whale. There is no separation of species in his being. He is singing a song with, to and for his grandmother. Yiragir (pronounced “Yirigi”) is spoken a few times in the track. This is the name of the great White Whale who is the Creator in many of their creation stories.

Lusi Walker’s role in his traditions and culture is to be a bridge between the wisdom and way of his people with the western world. In effect he has been chosen to share essence of the Aboriginal ‘Creation Song’ with the wider world with the purpose of bringing unity once again to all the tribes.

DEEP OCEAN GRATITUDE to LUIS and the Widjimbul people for your sacred Song offerings and Presence within the One Song Project.

This track was recorded and mixed at Buzz Studios in Byron Bay, with the incredibly generous help of Neesan and Tone there at Buzz. The didj, voice and boomerang clap sticks is played by Luis Walker of the Widjimbul People. The Flute is played by Elvina Munir of Celestial Dreaming. The recording was guided by the fully present orchestrative ear and guiding light of Gina Lakosta, and by a collective vision for the ONE SONG that we all share. BLESSED BE!

A Special Message from The Oceania Project
Humpback whale songs are transferred from year to year and evolve in a similar fashion to the verbally transmitted tribal lore of Aboriginal cultures from where the term songlines is derived.

The East Australian Humpback Whales travel in an unending cycle of migration between their birthplace in the inter-reef lagoon of the Great Barrier Reef and their Antarctic feeding areas. Their world is comprised of vast stretches of ocean where songs emitted by the Humpback Whales can be heard over great distances. Each year the whales sing a new song. Haunting melodies of radiant joy which fill the ocean along the East Coast of Australia.

We have just finished the final production work on a whale song compilation CD entitled "Songlines".
It is AVAILABLE NOW http://bit.ly/Songlines

"Songlines" documents the evolution of the intricate and beautiful East Australian Humpback song. An hour of pristine digital recordings selected from different years between 1992 and 2008 which draw the listener into a mysterious and majestic world. You can listen to a sample of the work here: http://bit.ly/songlines

The BLUE WHALE shares its SONG into the 'One Song'

This song shared below is an ORIGINAL Blue Whale Song.
It is such a powerful sound that it vibrates at a frequency that to humans we hear mainly as a 'vibrational' sound. This particular Blue Whale song is the base layer for the 'One Song' it is present throughout the entire Song and the One Song begins and completes with this powerful Blue whales song.

The Blue Whales Song by theOneSongProject

This next recording is the Blue Whales song speed up by (x10) so that it can be audible to the Human ear.

The Blue Whale is the largest animal that ever lived on Earth. It is also the loudest animal on Earth.
The Blue Whale (the whale that can travel all the way around the globe) is the loudest sound on the planet, but they have to speed it up by 10 to be in a frequency Humans can properly hear.

SOUND
Blue whales are the loudest animals on Earth! Their call reaches levels up to 188 decibels. This low-frequency whistle can be heard for hundreds of miles. The blue whale is louder than a jet, which reaches only 140 decibels! Human shouting is 70 decibels; sounds over 120 decibels are painful to human ears. (sourced from http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/whales/ )

SIZE
Blue whales grow to be about 80 feet (25 m) long on average, weighing about 120 tons (109 tonnes). The largest specimen found was a female 94 feet (29 m) long weighing more 174 tons (158 tonnes). The females are larger than males, as with all baleen whales. The largest of the blue whales (150 tons) has a heart that weighs about 1,000 pounds (450 kg) and has 14,000 pounds (6,400 kg) of blood circulating in its body. The heart is about the size of a Volkswagen bug car. A human could crawl through the aorta (a major blood vessel).

Blue Whales were abundant in nearly all the oceans until the beginning of the twentieth century. For over 40 years, they were hunted almost to extinction by whalers until protected by the international community in 1966. A 2002 report estimated there were 5,000 to 12,000 Blue Whales worldwide. (sourced from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Whales)

We encourage you to research and educate yourself, your children, your friends and your community on the powerful, importance and sacredness of our Blue Whale family..our Sisters & Brothers who lives within the great Ocean waters.
